It’s important to note that terms like “work together” or “should” do not necessarily imply a legal mandate for the committee to execute every discussed action.
Legal obligations are outlined in the Occupational Safety & Health Act 1994 and Safety & Health Committee Regulations. These requirements mandate the committee to undertake specific duties, including fostering consultation and cooperation between management and workers to enhance workplace safety & health, establishing a two-way communication channel for disseminating safety & health information, and promoting interest and motivation among all management and worker groups regarding safety & health matters in the workplace.
